Meet Nneka Okafor
What do you love about your job?
I love the gratification, the feeling like I’ve done something for someone and someone is happy. I think is very satisfying. As a registered nurse, there’s a lot you have to do.
What are the challenges?
It doesn’t just entail giving medications. You have to be there for your patients when they’re happy, when you’re sad. You have to communicate and sometimes can get very emotional.
Why do you love living in Bristol?
Bristol is fun, if you want loud there’s loud. If you want quiet, there’s quiet and there’s a lot of international stores. So I can never miss home.
What advice would you give to prospective employees?
When I came recently to Bristol, when I just moved to the UK, I was afraid of asking questions. But I’ve been here for over a year now and I notice that asking questions can never be bad and is the best thing you can do. Because if you don’t ask, you don’t know and like they normally say when you ask, you’re never lost or you will never miss your way. So there’s a lot of people here ready to answer. So just ask because you can’t do anything on your own and you can never know everything.
