Anaesthetic Practitioners
We are looking for qualified ODP and Anaesthetic Nurses to join our expanding Theatre team.
Our theatres are the major trauma centre for the Southwest Region, specialising in neurosurgery, renal, plastics, burns, and orthopaedics.
Our staff are supported to develop by our Perioperative Development team who provide tailored support and training programmes for our multi-disciplinary team members.
Consultant Anaesthetists
Due to service expansion, we are looking for Consultant Anaesthetists to work within a varied programme covering a range of areas including our Vascular Network, trauma and orthopaedics, plastic surgery, Bristol Urology Institute, neurosurgical centre including active research and clinical trial agenda. Bristol Stroke Thrombectomy Service, Obstetric units.
Southmead’s Anaesthetic department became ASCA accredited in 2020 and is currently going through revalidation. All candidates should have full GMC registration and be on the Speciality Register with a CCT in Anaesthesia.
Consultant Histopathologist
Bristol Cellular Pathology service are looking for a Consultant Histopathologist to join a team of specialist, supporting clinical services across Bristol and Weston. The Severn Pathology service is delivered in a purpose built Pathology Centre on the Southmead Hospital site.
In addition to the clinical work of the department, our consultants are involved in the teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff & Students.
Interested candidates should be on the Specialist Register of the GMC and must also have a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists.
Radiographers – Band 6 +
We are looking for experienced Radiographers to take an active role in our specialist imaging department at Southmead Hospital. Our clinical teams have built a strong reputation for excellent, healthcare.
Southmead is a Regional Trauma Centre and regional specialist in Neurosurgey and Urology. The Trust has five MRI scanners and four CT scanners on site with more located at Community sites. Candidates must have experience in CT modality, MRI modality, Plain Film, IR Radiography, Ultrasonography (Obstetrics & Non-Obstetrics) or Nuclear Medicine, You should have substantial experience and hold current, full HCPC registration.

Working as part of a regional service that provides assistive technology and life-changing support to individuals with complex needs. Consultant Stroke Physician
We’re seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician to become part of our evolving stroke department at North Bristol NHS Trust to contribute to the growth and strategic development of our services.
Since May 2023, our Comprehensive Stroke Centre, based at the Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital is at the centre of stroke care in the region with expansion of our hyperacute stroke unit (HASU) and acute stroke unit (ASU).

Acute Medicine Consultants
To underline the Trust’s commitment to developing its acute medical services, it is has made major investments and changes to its model of care recently. There is a three year commitment to further expansion and investment in acute services. The Trust has recently set-up a Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, run jointly with the ED, which offers exciting opportunities in service growth and development for the successful candidate.

Respiratory Consultants
The BRI Respiratory Department provides a full range of respiratory services to the population of Central and South Bristol and adjacent rural areas (core catchment population approximately 400,000). We also provide regional tertiary services including cystic fibrosis, sleep, domiciliary ventilation, TB management, and complex pulmonary physiology assessment.
The respiratory team at Weston is a small friendly team which consists of 2 consultants, 3 registrars, 5SHO’s and 2 respiratory specialist nurses. We have also recently recruited an acute NIV physiotherapist. The team provides a range of general respiratory services to the population of North Somerset and adjacent rural areas (core catchment population approximately 200-250,000).
